Accreditation
Lake Harriet United Methodist Preschool is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. The academy administers the only national, voluntary, professionally sponsored accreditation system for all types of schools and child care centers. The academy is a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.
A high quality early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.
Lake Harriet UM Preschool has voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study and has invited external professional review to verify compliance with the Academy's newly established criteria for High Quality Early Childhood programs and has been found to be in substantial compliance with the criteria. A copy of the criteria can be obtained from the Academy.
We are one of a very small group of programs in the area to undertake the accreditation process and receive re-accreditation. As one of the first preschools in Minnesota to become accredited over 10 years ago, we have worked hard to maintain our high quality program.
