Dear students, parents, and families, Welcome to Lake Harriet United Methodist Preschool! I’m excited to meet you at our home visit in the coming week and to interact with your child and family before the first day in our classroom. The visit will last about 20 minutes and is a time for your child, you, and me to get to know and feel comfortable with each other. Your child may want to show me their favorite toy or book. I’ll take few pictures—one of your family, one of your child alone to use in the classroom, and one of their house if they’d like! I will also deliver your student’s preschool tshirt, plastic communication folder, and purple preschool bag that will go from home to school each day.
I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher at Lake Harriet United Methodist Preschool this year. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in English and philosophy from Coe College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After college, I spent three years abroad teaching English in Thailand and Japan. When my husband and I returned Minneapolis, I obtained my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota. My family relocated for five years for my husband to study law at the University of Chicago, after which we returned to Minneapolis to raise our two sons, Henry (13) and Jack (7). We live across from Lake Nokomis and enjoy swimming and kayaking, bike rides to local parks, and picnicking. In my free time, I enjoy baking cookies, camping, and reading.
Please don’t hesitate to communicate with me as we progress through the year together. I can be reached at
